Custom Domains, Explained Simply for Non-Technical Founders
2 August 2026 · Webman Team

"Domain," "DNS," "hosting" — the vocabulary around getting a website is arguably more intimidating than the actual task. Here's the short, plain version.
A domain name (yourbusiness.com) is just the address people type to reach your site — the same idea as a shop's street address, except it's the same address for everyone, everywhere, all the time. Owning one means nobody else can use that exact address while you hold it.
"DNS" is just the phone book that connects your domain name to the actual computer serving your website. You don't need to understand how it works to use it — you need to know that when you buy a domain, it has to be "pointed" at the right place, which is the part that usually causes confusion.
On Webman, that pointing step is handled for you. Buy a domain through the Domains page (searched and priced live, in naira) and assign it to your site — whether that site is a no-code Smart WebBuilder site or one you built yourself — and it gets connected automatically. If something isn't resolving correctly, the Domains page has a "Check status" button that tells you exactly what's wrong in plain language, not a raw error code.
The short version: a domain is an address, DNS is the phone book, and the actual work of connecting the two is something you shouldn't have to do by hand. On Webman, you don't.
